Josh Collins, from Placentia, NL, has announced that he will not race in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Clarington 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this Sunday and will do a last minute driver change with Joey McColm. Collins, driver of the No. 25 for Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT), was scheduled to make his first start of the season on what is planned to be a full-time schedule on the NASCAR Pinty’s Series in 2016.

During the NASCAR pre-race medical, Collins discovered that further medical tests would be needed before given the green light. Collins has been working with doctors and medical professionals throughout the week in hope to start the season. Unfortunately, Collins will stand down till all tests have been completed.

Alex Labbe won the pole during qualifying Saturday for the Clarington 200. McColm will start 22nd in the No. 25. Twenty-seven cars participated in time trials for the race which is set for Sunday afternoon.

Collins, a veteran racer at Eastbound International Speedway (Avondale, NL), was the first Newfoundland & Labradorian to compete in a NASCAR touring series, making his debut last summer in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series event at Riverside International Speedway in Nova Scotia.

Collins is excited about the next phase in his racing career and once clearance is given is dedicated to getting back in the saddle of the No. 25 CBRT car for the remainder of 2016 NASCAR Pinty’s Series season.
