Island Speedway will reopen in 2014 after being purchased by Bill and Lynne Vasil, promoters of the Napa Sportsman Series.

While a tentative schedule will be announced later this month, the new owners have already indicated the Napa Sportsman Series will see the facility added to its 2014 schedule.

The track will require extensive renovations before its reopening. They plan to run at least three house divisions.

Located on the outskirts of Sydney, Nova Scotia, Island Speedway, a 1/4-mile paved oval, has been closed since 2010; it opened in 1975 and has also been known as Bud’s Speedway and Sydney Speedway.

The Vasil’s have planned an information meeting for January 26 at 2 p.m. with the location to be announced; all are welcome.

In the meantime further inquiries should be directed to bill@vasilmetals.com.
