Truex announced in January of this year that he and Pollex had separated after nearly 20 years together. During that time Pollex was a fixture in the NASCAR garage and used that platform to grow the Sherry Strong Foundation to create awareness for and help champion those with ovarian cancer, later shifting focus to include underfunded cancer initiatives specific to children.

Pollex was first diagnosed with the disease nine years ago, announcing its third recurrence in 2021.
