The Napa Sportsman Series will contest round five of nine events on its 2015 season this Saturday at Cape Breton Miner’s Memorial Speedway with the Gillis Home Hardware 100. Series regulars including second-place point contender, and Sydney native, Kyle Reid, along with third place Darren Price (Main-A-Dieu), and two drivers tied for fourth – Shawn Waterfield (Sydney) and rookie Joey Rudderham (Marion Bridge) – are among those expected to battle for the win.

Speedway house divisions will also be on the race card as they continue the chase for their respective track championships…

In the Cape Breton Trailer Sales Street Stock Vance MacDonald (Sydney) takes a 23 point lead into the Saf-way Auto Parts 25. John Halliday (Sydney) has Jeff Adamsson (Lower L’Ardoise) nipping at his bumper after two races with just a four point advantage for the runner-up spot in the division. With more cars expected to enter the division as the season races on, the competition will continue to get steeper for the entire field in the Street Stock division.

The Atlantic Cat/Hewitt Rentals Mini Stock division drivers will run an extended 50-lap feature on Saturday presented by Ramsay’s Honda. Local favorite and reigning Rookie of the Year Kody Quinn (Glace Bay) has a six point lead over JR Lawson (Shubenacadie). Kyle MacMillan (Dartmouth) sits third. Brandon MacMillan (Glace Bay) and Colin Nickerson complete the top five in the standings.

The race will mark the halfway point in the Cape Breton Miners Memorial Speedway season for 2015. Two events remain following Saturday in the five race schedule, August 29 and September 26.

Admission prices for Saturday are $20 for adults over the age of 19, $8 for students aged 13 to 18 with free admission to children 12 and under. Pit admission is $25 and restricted to those 18 years and older. Pit gates open for competitors at 10am, with racing beginning at 3pm.
