OYSTER BED BRIDGE, PE — The Maritime League of Legends Tour returns to action this Saturday as the series visits Prince Edward Island. The Island ICF Incorporated 50 is the first of two visits to Oyster Bed Speedway in Oyster Bed Bridge and is expected to draw approximately 20 of the fastest Legend car competitors from all three Maritime Provinces. Racing action, which also includes the Parts for Trucks 150 for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour, begins at 6 pm.

The Island ICF Incorporated 50 is the first of two regional qualifiers for INEX Asphalt Nationals on the Maritime League of Legends Tour schedule in 2018. The top finishing Pro, Master, Semi-Pro and Young Lion driver in the field at Oyster Bed Speedway on Saturday will become eligible for a provisional starting spot in Asphalt Nationals.

Craig MacDonald (Waverly, NS) enters as the series point leader. An injury has kept MacDonald from being behind the wheel for almost three weeks and the 50-lap event at Oyster Bed Speedway will mark his first time back behind the wheel since the accident on Friday, June 1st.

“We’re locked and loaded to head to Oyster Bed Speedway,” said MacDonald. “I’m 100% healed and the car is already ready to hit the track. Oyster Bed is my favorite track on the schedule and I’ve had this date circled on my calendar since the schedule was released!”

The last time the Maritime League of Legends Tour visited Oyster Bed Speedway it was Shelby Baker (Fall River, NS) going to victory lane.

Danny Harvey (Lantz, NS) is the leading Masters competitor on the series. The team is working hard to repair the car after a crash last Friday night at Scotia Speedworld and hopes to be in top shape for Saturday. Jeff Cruickshank (Hantsport, NS) is another strong Masters driver that will look to take the checkered flag first on Saturday night.

“The Flying Frenchman” Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB) leads the Fleet Brake Atlantic Rookie of the Year standings.

Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow, NS) will make his Maritime League of Legends Tour debut on Saturday. Rogers ran his first Legends division race at INEX Winter Nationals last February in Florida so this Saturday’s event will mark his first on the Maritime soil. Among his accomplishments, Rogers is a former Bandolero track champion at Scotia Speedworld, the reigning titlist at Petty International Raceway and is a two-time Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bandolero Blast champion.

Gary Dunning (Charlottetown) and the team from Red Rock Harley Davidson will be looking to defend their home turf in the Island ICF Incorporated 50. He’ll be in tough against the likes Darren Sherwood (Cambridge Narrows, NB), Emily Meehan (Rawdon, NS), Kyle Shipley (Halifax, NS), Wyatt McCulloch (Stewiacke, NS), Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS), Kevin MacDonald (Antigonish, NS), Craig Chisholm (Antigonish, NS), Ray Cox Jr (Porter’s Lake, NS) and others who will make the haul across the Confederation Bridge for the race.

The Island ICF Incorporated 50 Asphalt National Qualifier at Oyster Bed Speedway is the second of 10 races on the 2018 season for the Maritime League of Legends Tour. Also included on this  Saturday’s card is the fifth round for the Maritime Pro Stock Tour as they contest a 150-lap feature presented by Parts for Trucks and a 50-lap Oyster Bed Speedway Outlaw event. Pit gates for Legend competitors open at 1 pm. Racing action gets underway with qualifying races for feature events at 6 pm. Tickets are available at the gate on race day.
