OYSTER BED BRIDGE, PE – What is old is new again on the Eastern Super Mini Cup Series. “Old Man” Donnie MacNeill added another victory to his storied career at his home track with a second straight Mini Cup victory at Oyster Bed Speedway on Saturday evening. The Third Round presented by Oyster Bed RiteSTOP and Esso was a battle for the No. 19 car from start to finish in the 20-lap main event.

Kirk Sheasgreen (Miramichi, NB) led the opening quarter of the feature before heading off the race track because of a fluid leak. MacNeill battled with Heat and Semi winner Mark Ferguson (Saint John, NB) for the final dozen laps, racing side by side and swapping the lead a handful of times. When the checkered flag flew, it was MacNeill scoring his second win of the season. Ferguson, who won the Doc Dawson Enterprises Season Opener, was second in the Oyster Bed RiteSTOP and Esso feature with Sheasgreen rallying to third after making repairs to his car.

Randy Wilson (PEI) was the top rookie in the feature with a fourth-place finish while Dave Griffin (PEI) completed the top five.

A number of drivers experienced heartbreak during the night. Jeremy Alexander (Summerside, PE) had his evening cut short due to an axle issue while leading rookie Jacob Dunlop (Hampton, PE) was swept up in a crash during the heat race and could not continue.
