Legends Tour Finishes 2019 Saturday at Scotia Speedworld

The Maritime League of Legends Tour will complete their 2019 season this Saturday with a 50-lap feature at Scotia Speedworld. The 3/10-mile oval outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia will host the tenth and final round of the 2019 schedule. The Maritime League of Legends Tour will open the event, which is anchored by the Atlantic Oliver Tire 200 for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. Racing action begins at 4 pm on Saturday with qualifying.

The Maritime League of Legends Tour has had three weekends off following a busy month of August which saw five races run over the five Saturday nights within that month. The last time the Tour hit the track, it was Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS) driving to victory lane at Speedway 660 on SpeedWeekend during an INEX National Qualifier. The August 31 victory, combined with motor issues late in the feature suffered by Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS), will see Langille entering the Season Finale with a 35 point lead over the No. 98 car. With that lead, Langille will have to place 18th or better during the 50-lap finale to clinch the 2019 championship.

The season finale will be the final race that Shelby Baker (Fall River, NS) will enter as the reigning champion of the Series. Baker enters 20 points behind MacDonald and will be mathematically eliminated from title contention when Langille takes the green flag. Baker will set his sights on taking his first checkered flag of the season to go along with four podium finishes in nine starts this season. His best finish of the year came at Scotia Speedworld back in August when he finished second to MacDonald in his No. 53 Atlantic Tiltload Ford.

The Rookie of the Year Award winner will be crowned on Saturday afternoon. The Rookie of the Year point standings is based off an eligible driver’s seven best finishes on the season. Counting their best seven finishes with one race to go, Rustico, Prince Edward Island’s Devin Gallant has the upper hand on Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS) and Devin Wadden (Hammonds Plains, NS). Gallant has a five-point advantage on Chisholm and a 12 point cushion on Wadden. With Chisholm not age-eligible to compete at Scotia Speedworld, Wadden will enter having to finish at least eighth or better on Saturday to have a chance at winning the Rookie of the Year Award should Gallant finish 14th or worse.

Saturday afternoon will also decide the Fleet Brake Atlantic Class Bonus winners for the year. The top driver in each INEX sanctioned division in each Maritime League of Legends Tour event will pick up a cash bonus courtesy of Fleet Brake Atlantic. The top driver in each division at year’s end will also pocket a bonus from Fleet Brake Atlantic. Langille leads Baker in the Pro division, MacDonald has clinched the Fleet Brake Atlantic Class Bonus for the Semi-Pro class, Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow, NS) has a comfortable margin on Chisholm for the Young Lion bonus while Brad Wadden (Hammonds Plains, NS) will clinch the season-long bonus for the Masters division with a start on Saturday.

Scotia Speedworld’s Weekly Racing Series ended on Friday, September 13th with Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville, NS) clinching his first track championship in the Strictly Hydraulics Legend division. Lively would ultimately finish seven points up on Tylor Hawes (Porter’s Lake, NS) in the season-long championship. While Lively does not have a feature win to his resume in 2019, his best finish actually came with the Maritime League of Legends Tour when he ran second in the Season Opener in June. Hawes finished the year with one feature victory while Langille, like his total on the Maritime League of Legends Tour, won six Friday night features. In 13 Friday night Legend races at Scotia Speedworld, seven different drivers scored feature wins.

The Maritime League of Legends Tour 50 is a part of the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Atlantic Oliver Tire 200 Season Finale. Racing begins at 4 pm on Saturday, September 28th. Tickets for Saturday’s finale are $30.00 for adults, youth (8-15yrs) $8.00, children 7 and under are free. Pit admission for those 18+ is $35.00. The Maritime League of Legends Tour will officially crown their 2019 champion at the annual Awards Banquet for the Series, which is held within the Scotia Speedworld CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series Awards. The event will take place on Saturday, October 19th at the Best Western Plus Glengarry in Truro, Nova Scotia. Tickets are available by contacting the Scotia Speedworld Administration Office.
