Management for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour are excited to announce that Exide Batteries has returned to the popular stock car touring series for a sixth season to present the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year. The program gives bonus money to eligible drivers who are running their first full-time season with the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and culminates with the presentation of the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year trophy at the year-end awards banquet.

While the series crowned the youngest overall champion in history, one of the older drivers took home the freshman honors in 2016. A record that included six top ten finishes and the pole for the Atlantic Cat 250 helped Harry Ross White (Noel Road, NS) capture the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year title over Marshfield, PE’s Nevin Scott. HOSS etched his name into history, joining names like two-time Tour champion Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS – 2005) and Atlantic Cat 250 Champions Lonnie Sommerville (Barnesville, NB – 2007), Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS – 2008) and Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS – 2013) as former top freshmen in the series.

The 2017 season is slated to see at least three rookies go at it for the prestigious title. Sherwood, Prince Edward Island’s Robbie MacEwen and Nova Scotians Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) and Stevie Lively (Shubenacadie, NS) have officially signaled intentions to run the full Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour schedule. All three have won championships at their home tracks and will excite fans from flag to flag, all season long. Both will look to add their name to the prestigious list of past Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year champions with a strong 2017 season.

The chase for the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year Award begins on Saturday, May 20, when the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour takes the green flag for the Lucas Oil 150 at Scotia Speedworld. The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will be joined by the Maritime League of Legends Series.
