RIVER GLADE, NB – When all the dust settled at Petty International Raceway on Saturday evening, Emily Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS) loaded her trailer up with the first place hardware.

Meehan, a multiple time Scotia Speedworld Weekly Racing Series winner who has been racing on the Maritime League of Legends Tour since 2011, scored her first Tour win in the 50-lap feature on the high banked bullring. The win was also Meehan’s first at Petty International Raceway.

Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS), who had won the first two races on the Maritime League of Legends Tour in 2018, had dominated the event on track and crossed the line first but failed post-race technical inspection.

Meehan battled with Shelby Baker (Fall River, NS) for the win and would ultimately make the winning pass on the inside of the No. 53 with just under 20 to go. Baker held off Fleet Brake Atlantic Rookie Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois) for a second. Darren Sherwood (Cambridge Narrows) brought home a fourth-place finish at his home track with Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow, NS) capturing a third straight top top-fiveish on his Fleet Brake Atlantic Rookie season.

Meehan and Cormier took home heat race victories. Sixteen cars answered the call to the green flag. The 50-lap feature saw five caution periods and took 32 minutes to complete.

Cory Hall (Jolicure), the most recent winner on the series, started ninth in the field. Hall slowed shortly after the green flag flew and fell five laps down in the pit area before reemerging. While Hall was scored in 12th at the finish, the No. 08 car was quick as he zipped through the field on a number of occasions trying to unlap himself.

The 50-lap feature at Petty International Raceway marked the first of three series races in New Brunswick of 2018.
