After a quick break, the Eastern Super Mini Cup Series heads back to Oyster Bed Speedway for their fourth race of the 2018 season. The Michael Harvey Construction 20 will also mark the halfway point of the seven race Eastern Super Mini Cup Series season. Racing begins at the Oyster Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island bullring at 6 pm on Saturday, July 21st.

Mark Ferguson (Saint John, NB) enters the Michael Harvey Construction race day with the point lead on the Eastern Super Mini Cup Series. Ferguson is in search of his second Series title and is hoping to take another step towards that goal on Saturday night. After a misstep during Round Two, Ferguson raced back to the podium during the Oyster Bed RiteSTOP and Esso 20 two weeks ago. His consistency throughout the 2018 season has him with a comfortable point lead with four races remaining.

While Ferguson has pulled away with a 43 point advantage on the field, two new drivers find themselves tied for the runner-up spot in the standings. Donnie “Old Man” McNeil has won the last two races on the Series and is tied with rookie driver Randy Wilson for the second overall in the Series. Trouble struck Jacob Dunlop early in Race Three and knocked the freshman driver back to fourth in the standings. Dunlop has a nine point gap between him and the tie for second but only a two point advantage on Kirk Sheasgreen. Sheasgreen has two straight podium finishes heading into the Michael Harvey Construction 20 and will look build on his early season success on Saturday.

Dave Griffin, Jeremy Alexander and rookie Logan Dawson are also among those that will be looking to head to victory lane at their home track on Saturday night in the Michael Harvey Construction 20.

This is the fourth of five races at Oyster Bed Speedway for the Eastern Super Mini Cup Series in 2018. The Series will return to the Prince Edward Island bullring on August 25th to conclude their home stand. The Eastern Super Mini Cup Series will then hit the road to run races in New Brunswick at Shediac’s CENTRE For Speed on September 29th and at Speedway Miramichi on October 13th.

Adult grandstand admission price for Saturday night’s Michael Harvey Construction 20 is $15 (aged 16 and up), youth admission (aged eight to 15) is $5 and children under eight are admitted free of charge. Pit admission is $20 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. Pit gates for competitors and grandstand gates will open at 2:30pm with racing getting underway at 6pm. The event also includes racing in four Oyster Bed Speedway house divisions, Central Engine Services Street Stock, Provincial Credit Union Mini Outlaw and Chris’s Bobcat Services Four Fun. The Street Stock division will highlight the house division card with a 50-lap Super Series event.
