UPDATE (August 5) –  The opening event for the MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour originally scheduled for this Sunday at Valley Raceway has been postponed. The forecast of rain throughout overnight Saturday and into Sunday has caused officials to postpone the show scheduled for Sunday. Management from both the East Coast Mini Stock Tour and Valley Raceway are working to find a makeup date for the 50-lap race and will be announced when confirmed. The inaugural race for the series will now take place on Friday, August 18 at Riverside International Speedway in James River, Nova Scotia. The Friday night card will open the NASCAR Pinty’s Series weekend and the East Coast Mini Stock Tour will race prior to the NAPA Sportsman Series on the opening night of the two-day event. Post time for the event is 7 pm.

The MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour will open their highly anticipated inaugural season this Sunday on the Annapolis Valley dirt at Valley Raceway in Melvern Square, Nova Scotia. The TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash will serve as the first round of the series after the initial two rounds of the year were washed out due to rain. Racing, which will also include the Valley Raceway Trucks, begins at the dirt oval on Sunday, August 6th at 1 pm.

The format for the TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash is unique. Unlike a straight 50-lap distance like regular MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour feature, the race will be split into three segments – an opening 20-lap segment, a middle 20-lap stage and a final ten lap sprint for the victory. An inversion, as selected by a lucky fan, will determine an inversion from the finish of the first segment to the starting order for the next 20-lap segment. A bonus point will be paid to the winner in the opening two segments with the top five at the finish also receiving point bonuses towards the 2017 championship.

A special seven lap Dash for Cash will be held prior to the TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash which will feature seven of the top cars running for the checkered flag and the top prize of $100.

At least 15 cars have pre-registered for the inaugural race on the MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour. Former Valley Raceway Four Cylinder champion Jesse Deveau (Greenwood, NS) headlines a talented field of Mini Stock stars for the TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash. Deveau will have to hold off two-time Scotia Speedworld champions Dave Matthews (Kennetcook, NS) and Matthew Warren (White’s Lake, NS) to successfully defend his home dirt. Mark Williams (Elmsdale, NS), Drew MacEachern (Dartmouth, NS), Chris Hatcher (Beaver Bank, NS) and Neil Miousse (Kentville, NS) have all won features on asphalt but the TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash will mark their dirt racing debut.

Bob Landry (Havre Boucher, NS), Darren Flemming (Shubenacadie, NS), Greg McKay (Halifax, NS) and Mitchell Hopkins (Beaver Bank, NS) all have asphalt starts under their belts for 2017. Cape Breton will be represented by Jerome Tracey (Port Hawkesbury, NS), Brian Axworthy (North Sydney, NS), Rhonda Kelloway (Glace Bay, NS) and Douglas Webb (River Ryan, NS).

Saturday afternoon will feature a practice for the MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour from 10am to 5pm. Camping is available at the track and the campers will be treated to live music featuring Tim Deveau on Saturday evening.

Grandstand admission prices for Sunday’s TJ Greenlawn Landscape Construction Dirt Clash are $12 for adults, while children 12 years of age and under will be admitted free. Pit admission is $12 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Pit gates for competitors on Sunday open at 9am, grandstand gates open for spectators at 12pm with racing getting underway at 1pm. Tickets are available at the gate on race day, cash only sales.
