HALIFAX, NS – Scotia Speedworld is excited to announce a continued partnership with Molson Coors Canada that will see Coors Light branding on the Scotia Speedworld Truck division for the second consecutive season. The Truck division began as a standalone division in 2010 after the Hobby Stock class was retired in 2009. When it comes to action, the Coors Light Truck class is one of the most competitive Scotia Speedworld has to offer on their Friday night Weekly Racing Series schedule. Six different drivers punched their ticket to victory lane in eleven races last season.

In 2013, Dan Smith (Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia) made history by becoming the first back-to-back Coors Light Truck champion after racing his way to the same crown in 2012. The feat was far from easy though after Smith had to out-duel Ryan Goldsmith (Bridgewater, NS) for the championship in the final race of 2013. When “last call” was made at the bar, Smith was the one who stepped up to the plate, winning three of 11 races on the schedule, including the championship round. Smith will look to become the first known three-time consecutive track champion at Scotia Speedworld this season as he will return to defend his title against a hungry field of competitive Trucks.

The Coors Light Trucks will also see their first extended lap feature in 2014, with a 50-lap feature scheduled for Friday, August 22nd at 7:00 pm. The first 25-lap feature on the Coors Light Truck schedule is set for Sunday, May 25th at 2:00 pm at Scotia Speedworld.
