PENSACOLA, FL – Cole Butcher, from Porter’s Lake, Nova Scotia, posted the fastest lap time of the day during Thursday’s final practice session for Saturday’s Snowflake 100 at 5 Flags Speedway. Butcher’s lap of 16.752-seconds around the 1/2-mile oval topped 58 others who are attempting to qualify for the race, including some of the best short track racers in the U.S.

Butcher, the 2016 Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour champion, was among the fastest all day with three practice sessions, running ninth with a lap of 17.204 in the first practice and 12th with a lap of 17.253 in the second practice.

Saturday’s Snowflake 100 is the precursor to Sunday’s Snowball Derby – Snowflake cars are classed a Pro Late Model and Snowball cars are Super Late Model.

Pictou, Nova Scotia’s King Racing has entered the Snowball Derby with Maine’s Cassius Clark at the wheel. Thursday practice saw 59 cars on track with Clark somewhat off the pace, 31st in the first practice , 50th in the second practice and 50th in the final practice. Clarks’ fastest lap of the day was 16.977 set in the first session; fast time for the day in Snowball practice was a lap of 16.602 set by Cole Anderson in the first practice. The Snowball Derby entry list sees a host of young NASCAR drivers including, William Byron, John Hunter Nemechek, Harrison Burton, Christopher Bell, and Corey Lajoie.

Qualifying for the Snowball Derby is Friday and qualifying for the Snowflake 100 is Saturday.

Both days will be broadcast live online pay-per-view by Speed51TV. Saturday’s race is $24.99 USD and Sunday’s race is $29.99 USD. Friday’s action is also available for $19.99 USD.
