Cassius Clark (Farmington, ME) started at the rear of the field, and won, the Nova Truck Centres Make a Wish 150 at Scotia Speedworld on Saturday. Clark took the lead from Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) on Lap 123 and held on for his second feature win in three races on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour in 2016. Turple held on to second while Russell Smith Jr. (Lakeside, NS) charged hard for third place. Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) and Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) completed the top five in the feature event.

Atlantic Tiltload Qualifying started off the day’s racing action. Slaunwhite, Clark and Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) each took home heat race wins. Smith was the recipient of the King Freight Lines Future Winner Award. Turple grabbed the Linde Most Laps Led Award after leading 104 laps of the Nova Truck Centres Make a Wish 150. Harry Ross White (Noel Road) was the top freshman in 12th place to capture the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race Award.

Smith was making his first pro stock start this season, substituting in the No. 66 for Daryl Maharwho suffered a hand injury during a wreck in the series race last weekend. Mahar expects to be back in the driver’s seat in the near future.

Twenty-three teams entered the event, which was slowed by five cautions and took one hour, eleven minutes to complete.

Fans were treated to two of Scotia Speedworld’s Weekly Racing Series divisions prior to the Nova Truck Centres Make A Wish 150. Jorden Smith (Lakeside, NS) won the 25 lap Toursec Lightning feature and Jason Fenton (Eastern Passage, NS) won the Coors Light Trucks 25 lap feature.

Clark will maintain the point lead on the series when the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour makes its first appearance of the season in New Brunswick next Saturday at Petty International Raceway. Tickets for the 100 lap feature will be available at the gate on race day.

 

Scotia Speedworld (SSW) is a 3/10-mile asphalt oval racing facility.
