RIVER GLADE, NB – The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is excited to launch the 2018 season this Saturday with the Lucas Oil 150. For the first time in series history, the season opener is being hosted at Petty International Raceway.  The Lucas Oil 150 will mark round one of 12 for the popular regional touring series. Approximately 30 teams from across the Maritimes are expected for Saturday’s event. Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races will set the field and are slated to get underway at 6:00 PM.

Fans are in for a great show on Saturday with a stout field of veterans, rookies and hometown heroes who will all be looking to leave their mark at the season opener. In order to do that however they will have to compete against reigning Series champion Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS), former champ Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS), Cat 250 winners Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) and Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) and IWK 250 winners Kent Vincent (Westmoreland, PE) and Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE), just to name a few of the elite field prepared for battle at the Lucas Oil 150.

A number of strong contenders from New Brunswick will look to defend their home turf. Sarah McKay (Quispamsis) returns to the Tour on a full-time basis in 2018 and will be joined in the Lucas Oil 150 by a number of drivers fans will see on a regular basis. The 2012 Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year Steve Halpin (Saint John), former Speedway 660 Pro Stock champion Chris Duncan (Rothesay) and Mike Rodgers (Moncton) return to the Series with Saturday’s Lucas Oil 150 circled on their calendars. Greg Fahey (St. Stephen), winner of the Cummins 150 in 2017 at Speedway 660, will also make the trek to compete in the Lucas Oil 150 on Saturday evening.

Andrew Rodgers (Smithtown) and Cory Hall (Jolicure) will both make their Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour debut. Rodgers, younger brother of Matt Rodgers, has made headlines in the Sportsman division in recent years while Hall came within a whisker of winning the INEX International Semi-Pro Legend championship in 2017. Rodgers will drive for his family’s Pro Stock team with Hall making his debut in the No. 13 King Racing ride for 2005 Tour Champion and Hall of Famer Rollie MacDonald.

In addition to Rodgers and Hall, Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) and Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS) also join the pair in the freshman club for 2018. Farrell is a two-time Maritime League of Legends Tour champion and owns multiple track titles in his home province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Langille owns a number of INEX Bandolero Canadian National championships and is a former Scotia Speedworld Hydraulics Plus Bandolero track titlist.

The top newcomer to the Series at the end of the year will join a Who’s Who list of drivers who have won the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year Award. Jarrett Butcher (Porters Lake, NS), Stevie Lively (Shubenacadie, NS) and Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) return for their second full season after competing for the title one year ago while Robbie MacEwen (Sherwood, PE) will compete part-time in 2018.

Also joining the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour this Saturday at Petty International Raceway are the MJS and Prime Lift East Coast Mini Stock Tour, Atlantic Modified Tour and A.E. McKay Builders Late Model Sportsman, all opening divisions will run 50 lap races.

Admission (cash only) for Saturday’s Lucas Oil 150 is $30.00 for adults, $10.00 for youth (8-18 years old); pit admission is $35.00. Children 7 and under are admitted for free.
