SYDNEY, NS- The management of Sydney Speedway is excited to announce their tentative 2019 schedule of events. The schedule includes four motorsports weekends beginning with the grand opening weekend in July and closing the year with a Thanksgiving Weekend stock car showcase.

The track will swing its gates open on Saturday, July 6th and Sunday, July 7th with a two-day stock car show. The weekend will be headlined by the East Coast Mini Stock Tour along with INEX sanctioned Legend and Bandolero races. The Street Stock division will join the Mini Stock Tour, Legend and Bandoleros on Saturday, July 6th with the Late Model Sportsman class taking to the track as the spotlight division on Sunday, July 7th.  Saturday’s events will start at 4pm with Sunday’s racing beginning at Noon (12pm).

The second event will take place on Saturday, July 27th and feature racing in the Legend, Bandolero and Four Cylinder divisions. Based on car count and community interest, more divisions could be added to the card. Racing begins at 4pm.

The finale weekend at the track for 2019 will take place on the Thanksgiving weekend. The finale will take place over three days, kicking off on Friday, October 11th with an early arrival practice day and evening party. Saturday, October 12th and Sunday, October 13th will see racing in the Legend, Bandolero, Four Cylinder, Late Model Sportsman and Street Stock divisions. The event is expected to be the final weekend of pavement oval stock car racing in Atlantic Canada for 2019 and with extended distance features for each class, it is expected that this event will draw interest from all four Atlantic Provinces.

The track will also produce a Demolition and Enduro event in late Summer. A finalized date and demolition events are expected to be confirmed soon.

More information, including race day formats, race lengths, payout information and building rules will be released as the season draws closer. The 2019 schedule is subject to change without notice.

An information meeting is being scheduled for April for track management to meet with drivers, teams and interested individuals regarding the 2019 racing program. A date for the meeting along with rules packages for the house Four Cylinder, Street Stock and Late Model Sportsman divisions are expected to released soon.
