RIVER GLADE, NB – Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) took home both ends of the INEX National Qualifiers for Legend cars during Night One of the Bumper to Bumper Summer Shootout at Petty International Raceway. Naugle, the 2017 INEX Asphalt Nationals Semi-Pro Champion and Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour regular, was the winner in the pair of 30-lap features on Thursday evening to kick off the inaugural four-day showcase of speed at the River Glade, New Brunswick oval.

Naugle raced to the win in both features over Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS). Eastbound Park point leader Michael Neary (Portugal Cove, NL) was third in the first feature in his first start at Petty International Raceway. Nathan Blackburn (Timberlea, NS) rebounded to finish third in the second 30-lap main.

Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction, NS) and Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River, NS) captured LBT Pallets Bandolero features. Christensen took the victory in the Beginner Bandolero feature while Noble was the winner in the Bandit/Outlaw main event. Christensen topped Halifax, Nova Scotia area drivers Campbell Delaney and Caden Tufts for his win on Night One. Noble, who also drove the No. 71 Legend car in his debut in that division was the winner in the LBT Pallets Bandolero class over Owen Mahar (Hubley, NS) and Bandit Gage Gilby (Enfield, NS).

Jordan Veinotte (Porter’s Lake, NS) was dominant en route to the Late Model Sportsman opener for the Bumper to Bumper Summer Shootout. Veinotte was able to pull away in the 50-lap feature both on the initial start and on the only restart for a caution that flew on Lap 30. Justin Beers (Moncton, NB) was able to grab second after the restart with 20 to go while Kenny MacKenzie Jr (Salisbury, NB) was able to finish third. Koven Lewis (Salisbury, NB) and Destiny Enkel (Fredericton, NB) completed the top five.

Trevor Smith (Windsor, NS) was in firm control of the 30-lap Mini Stock feature on Night One of the Bumper to Bumper Summer Shootout. Smith gapped an entertaining battle for second that eventually saw Chris Garnett (Havelock, NB) race to runner-up spot while Rob Poirier (Irishtown, NB) was able to solve Ryan McKnight (Sussex, NB) in the waning laps for the final podium position. Rookie Shawn Benoit (Dalhousie, NB) brought his car home in fifth.

Logan Power (Riverview, NB) sent a statement by winning the 40-lap Street Stock feature on Thursday. Power took the win by over two seconds at the end of the race, finishing ahead of Neal Crawford (Salisbury, NB), who was driving for a vacationing Michael Cormier. James Matchett won the battle of Miramichi over Jared Tozer for the final podium spot in the Street Stock feature.

The Bumper to Bumper Summer Shootout continues on Friday, August 2nd and runs until Sunday, August 4th with three more nights of racing. Action begins on Friday, August 2nd at 7pm, the racing on Saturday, August 3rd goes green at 4pm with the Bumper to Bumper Summer Shootout champions being crowned beginning at 2pm on Sunday, August 4th.
