UPDATED SATURDAY AT 3 P.M.Please be advised that due to inclement weather the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour has postponed the Lucas Oil 100 until Sunday, May 24 at 2 p.m. Pit gates open at 9 a.m., grandstands open at 11 a.m. The Weekly Racing Series season opener that was scheduled for Sunday has been canceled. The Weekly Racing Series will now start its season Friday, June 5 at 7:00 p.m.

HALIFAX, NS – The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will open its 15th season of stock car racing this Saturday Sunday at Scotia Speedworld with the Lucas Oil 100. The season opener will launch the 12-race schedule that will take the Tour to five Maritime markets throughout the summer. Qualifying for the Lucas Oil 100 gets underway at 1:10 p.m. with racing slated for 2:00 p.m.

A trio of past series champions stood on top of the podium following the 2014 season opener. Shawn Turple (Enfield) who has won two Tour titles (2010, ’12) was the victor a year ago. John Flemming (Halifax) finished second en route to his fifth series championship (2002 ‘03, ’06, ’13, ‘14). Shawn Tucker, (Fredericton, NB) a three-time series champion, (2004, ’07, ’10) rounded out the podium at this event last year. Tucker has scaled back from full-time competition for the upcoming season.

The Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year battle enters round one on Saturday. Two rookies with solid racing resumes have signaled their intention to compete full-time for the prestigious title. D.J. Casey (Prospect) purchased a car that Flemming drove to two series championships. Joel Hickox (Cornwall, PE) has made limited starts on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour over recent years but is planning his first full-time season with the series in 2015.

Joe Chisholm and the gang from Race Time Radio will back on the road with the Tour for six events, beginning with Saturday’s Lucas Oil 100. The Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends will kick off their 2015 campaign with a 50 lap feature prior to the Pro Stock feature.

Admission for Saturday’s season opener is $25.00 for adults; $5.00 for youth; pit admission is $30.00. Children 7 and under are admitted for free.  Tickets will be available at the gates on race day (Cash Only).

Scotia Speedworld (SSW) is a 3/10-mile asphalt oval racing facility.
