The Maritime League of Legends Tour officially kicks off the second half of the 2019 season on Saturday when the Series heads to its home track of Scotia Speedworld. The 3/10-mile oval outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia will play host to the sixth round of ten on the Maritime League of Legends Tour for 2019. The 50-lap feature is a part of the festivities for the 20th Annual Toromont Cat 250 weekend at the track. Racing begins with qualifying on Saturday, August 10th at 5 pm.

Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS) further cemented his point lead one week ago by winning the Tim’s Corner Motorsports 50 presented by Island Coastal Services at Oyster Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island. The win was his third of the season in five Tour races with one of those victories coming at the season opener at Scotia Speedworld in June. While Langille holds a comfortable 25 point lead in the standings, it will not be Langille behind the wheel of the No. 51 Velocity Machining and Welding/AK Performance car on Saturday. With Langille out of town, Riley Halverson will be in the seat on Saturday. The Kannapolis, North Carolina driver’s last start with the Maritime League of Legends Tour was in 2017 and has a weekly racing series win at Scotia Speedworld to his credit amongst his vast resume in Legend car racing.

Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS) sits second in the point standings heading into Saturday and is coming off a sixth-place finish in the Tim’s Corner Motorsports 50 presented by Island Coastal Services. The sixth-place finish equals the one he earned at Scotia Speedworld in June where he had to rally from the back of the field. MacDonald, who has his share of first place trophies from his home track, will be looking to add one more on the biggest weekend of stock car racing in Halifax.

Quietly going about his business is reigning Tour champion Shelby Baker (Fall River, NS). Baker turned up the intensity at Prince Edward Island last week with his first podium finish of the 2019 season. With half of the season still to come and a 50 point deficit, fans will want to keep an eye on Baker Saturday as he continues his march to the top of the standings.

With Scotia Speedworld being the unofficial home to INEX sanctioned racing in the Maritimes, several home track drivers will be searching for the win on Saturday afternoon on one of the biggest stages for Legend cars all season. Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville, NS) has the lead by 20 points in the Scotia Speedworld Friday night Strictly Hydraulics Legend standings but has five drivers clumped within two points from second to sixth. Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS), Tylor Hawes (Porter’s Lake, NS), Braden Langille, Emily Meehan (Rawdon, NS) and Nathan Blackburn (Timberlea, NS) all find themselves in a thick championship battle heading into Friday night and will look to carry that momentum into the 50-lap Maritime League of Legends Tour contest on Saturday. In addition to Halverson driving the No. 51 for Langille on Saturday, Adam Meehan (Rawdon, NS) will be at the helm of the No. 75 car for his sister Emily for the second straight race as Emily recovers from a concussion.

Kody Quinn (Sydney, NS) is expected to make his second start of the Maritime League of Legends Tour season on Saturday. Quinn comes off a top-five finish at the Schooner General Contracting Legends Challenge at Riverside International Speedway. Fans can expect the likes of reigning Scotia Speedworld track champion Paul Goulden (Shelburne, NS), Jeff Cruickshank (Hantsport, NS), sophomore Nicole Richard (Belnan, NS) and rookie contenders Matthew Rushton (Dartmouth, NS), Devin Wadden and his father Brad Wadden (Hammonds Plains, NS) to race for the win on Saturday evening. Devin Gallant (Rustico, PE) is the point leader in the Rookie of the Year standings on the Series after five events in 2019.

The Maritime League of Legends Tour 50 is a part of the 20th Annual Toromont Cat 250 celebrations. Saturday sees the culmination of three days of activity at the track with the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour competing in the Toromont Cat 250. The Passione Flooring & Interiors East Coast Mini Stock Tour will also contest the sixth round of their Maritime schedule on Saturday. Racing begins at 5 pm. Tickets for the Toromont Cat 250 are $35.00 for adults, youth (8-15yrs) $10.00, children 7 and under are free. Pit admission for those 18+ is $40.00. The Maritime League of Legends Tour is in the midst of a busy month of August that will see the Series compete at five tracks over the five Saturday evenings in the month.  The cars and stars of the Maritime League of Legends Tour race back to Riverside International Speedway on Saturday, August 17th. The second stop to Riverside International Speedway will coincide with the NASCAR Pinty’s Series Bumper to Bumper 300. Two races in New Brunswick will close August, with stops at Petty International Raceway (Saturday, August 24th) and Speedway 660 (Saturday, August 31st).
