Dan MacLeod, well-known in regional racing circles, is joining the management team for the Maritime Pro Stock Tour and Scotia Speedworld. MacLeod will serve as Assistant Manager this year and assume the role of General Manager starting in 2023. Current GM Ken Cunning will retire at the end of this season.

MacLeod is a longtime fan and sponsor through his retired position as a Regional Manager for the Used & Heavy Rent Division at Atlantic Cat. Cunning has served as GM for 15 years.

“It was with reluctance that I submitted my resignation,” said Cunning. “I want to spend more time with my grandkids, I was missing so many notables it seemed. Still, it was a hard decision to make. Dan MacLeod has experience in racing and business, he will do a great job.”

“I want to thank all the teams that participated over the years. Great racers and people. The love of the sport was always there to see. To the staff, I want to say a huge thank you. You do what you do for the love of the sport, and you do it well. Fans and racers don’t get to see what goes into hosting events. My thanks to each of you and my ever-lasting gratitude. I would also like to thank Cecil Vance and the late Harry Poole for giving me the opportunity back in 2005. I felt like a kid in a candy store. It didn’t take long to realize that they were huge fans and were doing what they did for the love of racing. I believe every team member should thank Cecil for everything he and Harry have done over the years.”

Cunning cites working with Ernie Ledwidge (race director at the time Cunning joined the SSW/PST team) and getting to know Canadian racing legend Jim Hallahan as highlights of his tenure.

The Maritime Pro Stock Tour kicks off its ’22 season May 21 at Scotia Speedworld.
