Johnny Clark finally got to victory lane in a Pro All Star Series race and in the process put an abrupt end to D.J. Shaw’s three straight Super Late Model wins. The PASS North 150 had fans on the edge of their seats all evening at Speedway 660 as Clark held off Joey Doiron and then Shaw in the late stages of the race to finally get the win.

“It’s been exactly two years since we won a PASS race and it’s incredible that it took a trip to Speedway 660 for us to finally get it done” said Clark from the Riverview Ford Victory Lane. “This is my favourite track, I just love coming up here and this win is exactly what this race team needed, I don’t think we had the best car tonight but we got the win.”

The PASS North SLM 150 victory was Clark’s fourth straight at Speedway 660. He won in 2010, 11 & 12. Last year’s race was rained out and unable to be rescheduled, so this win ended a lengthy two year winless streak for the driver from Hallowell, Maine. It also ends a three race winning streak for D.J. Shaw who finished second at Speedway 660 on Saturday night.

“We sure are disappointed not to make history tonight by winning an unprecedented fourth PASS race in a row, but it was a good points night so we’ll take it” said a disappointed Shaw, who races out of North Conway, New Hampshire. “Johnny gave us the inside lane and we drove it deep into the corner several times during the last five or six laps, but he was just too strong on the exit of the turns and we weren’t able to get it done.”

Clark started up front and gave up the lead to three different drivers, during the race, but always bounced back to the top of the leader board. First Martin Latulippe got around Clark, then later in the race Glen Luce passed him and with less than 40 laps to go Joey Doiron got the better of Clark’s 54. But when all was said and done Doiron could only manage a third place finish.

“I’m really disappointed, we worked hard tonight and finally passed Johnny for the lead and were cruising while he was trying to hold off D.J. in a battle for second” said Doiron. “That last caution killed us, Johnny restarted on the high groove, pinned us down low to grab the lead, then we couldn’t hold off D.J. and all we could do is watch those two guys race for the win.”

Johnny Clark, Travis Benjamin and Cassius Cark won the PASS North SLM qualifying heats.
