Friday is AMP Energy Night at Scotia Speedworld August 4, 2016 Regional Scotia Speedworld’s CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series is ready for AMP Energy Night this Friday. On track this week are the Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros, Toursec Thunder & Lightning cars, Strictly Hydraulics Legends and Coors Light Trucks. Adult admission for the Weekly Racing Series is just $14.00; Youth (8-15) are $4.00 and children 7 and under are free…all summer long! Tickets are available at the gate on race day (cash only). Grandstand gates open at 5:00 PM with racing action slated to get underway at 7:00 PM. The point battles are heating up as the season reaches its stretch drive. As the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series enters August, the Toursec Lightning and Thunder divisions see ties for the championship. Reigning Toursec Lightning champion Deven Smith (Lakeside) is even with division veteran Scott Thibodeau (Williamswood), who evened the score last week with his first feature win of the year. The Toursec Thunder class enters battle with former champions Stevie Lively (Shubenacadie) and Dave Matthews (Kennetcook) tied atop the championship standings. The Hydraulics Plus Bandolero classes also have close point battles with Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow – Outlaw), Nathan Langille (Coldbrook – Bandits) and Tyler Hutchinson (Onslow – Beginner Bandit) holding slight advantages heading into competition on Friday. Dan Smith (Lower Sackville) and Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake) each have comfortable advantages in the Coors Light Truck and Strictly Hydraulics Legend divisions, respectively, but with over a month of racing to go, no point lead is safe. Scotia Speedworld (SSW) is a 3/10-mile asphalt oval racing facility. SSW is the only track in Nova Scotia to host a weekly racing series, which runs May through September and features six different classes of racecars. SSW also hosts special events, including Monster Jam and the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. SSW is located at Exit 6 on Highway 102, across from the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
