Cross Roads Legends Tour at Scotia Speedworld Saturday June 23, 2022 Regional The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour continues a busy early-season stretch this Saturday, June 25th, as the Series rolls to Scotia Speedworld for the first of three stops in Halifax. The CKG Elevator 50 presented by Samuel, Son and Co. are the fourth of 12 races this season on the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour and the first of two races on back-to-back weekends. Racing begins on Saturday afternoon at 4 pm. On paper, Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS) has a stranglehold on the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour. Chisholm has won the first three feature events at Speedway 660, Petty Raceway, and Riverside International Speedway. His record at Scotia Speedworld this season is much the same, winning three of the four events on the Strictly Hydraulics Legends schedule. Chisholm has seven wins locally, not counting his victories prior to returning home from a winter of racing in the United States, and is the driver to beat early in the 2022 season in the Maritimes. The statistics might not lie but they do not mean that Chisholm has gone unchallenged. Cross Roads Rookie of the Year Contender Gage Gilby (Enfield, NS) gave Chisholm a run for the win during the last round of the Series, the Superior Foundations 50 at Riverside International Speedway. Gilby’s No. 25 car got better as the race went on and was poised for his first win on the Tour but fell inches short in a photo finish to the No. 87. Gilby has been on the podium in his first four races with the Series dating back to the last race at Scotia Speedworld in 2021. Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS) and Owen Mahar (Hubley, NS) are also emerging as early-season contenders for the 2022 championship. With a quarter of the races complete, they find themselves 21 and 24 points out of the lead, respectively. The pair each have three top-five finishes in the first three events with Langille’s consistency having a slight edge over Mahar as the Series heads back to their home track for the CKG Elevator 50 presented by Samuel, Son and Co. Devin Wadden (Hammonds Plains, NS), who received some extra fuel money last race courtesy of a random draw from contingency sponsor Steele Volkswagen, sits fifth in points. The Wadden family fielded three cars during the Superior Foundation 50 with Devin’s brother Brayden and his father Brad also in the field. Keep your eye on this fast family as they come back to their home track with the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour this Saturday afternoon. Eleven drivers, including six Cross Roads Rookie of the Year contenders, have competed in all three events so far on the Series. With the concentration of Legend cars being in the Halifax area, a healthy field is expected to compete Saturday in the CKG Elevator 50 presented by Samuel, Son and Co. Qualifying will get underway at 4:00 pm on Saturday at Scotia Speedworld. Adult grandstand tickets are $25.00, youth (8-15) $10.00, children seven and under are admitted free.
