Crafton Kicks Off IWK 250 Super Weekend at IWK July 17, 2014 Regional Defending NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Matt Crafton kicked off the three-day IWK 250 Super Weekend at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax Thursday afternoon. The visit was a thrill for dozens of children and their families as they met Crafton and then got to sign their names and well-wishes on the race car he will drive in Saturday’s IWK 250 – the Cat Car for Kids. Crafton, himself the father of a one-year-old daughter, answered questions from the kids and posed for pictures with them. He was joined at the hospital by Antigonish’s Donald Chisholm, a teammate for Crafton in the IWK 250. The hospital visit has been a part of the IWK 250 since its inception in 2007 and Crafton is the eighth NASCAR celebrity to visit the facility. The Cat Car for Kids program was established by Atlantic Cat in 2008 and has turned into a mainstay for the event. Photos from the hospital visit follow… The IWK 250 Super Weekend kicks off Friday with the season opener for the Napa Sportsman Series and the Maritime League of Legends will also be on hand for the Maritime Legends Challenge. Racing starts at 7 p.m. Friday. On Saturday it’s all pro stock, all day; Atlantic Tiltload time trials are at 3:30 p.m., Dartmouth Dodge heat races at 4:30, autographs session and a pre-race concert at 5:30, opening ceremonies at 7:00, and the green flag for the IWK 250 is expected to fly at 7:30. Advance reserved and general admission tickets, including weekend passes, are available until Thursday. General admission single day tickets will be available at the track box office on Friday and Saturday. A limited number of campsites remain available in IWK 250 Town; advance permits are required for all overnight parking this Wednesday to Sunday at Riverside International Speedway.
