Below are the finishes each driver needs in Sunday’s race at Phoenix International Raceway to guarantee a spot in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway, regardless of the finish of any other driver:

Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin: 11th or better; 12th and at least one lap led; 13th and most laps led

Ryan Newman: 9th or better; 10th and at least one lap led; 11th and most laps led

Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski and Kevin Harvick only control their own destiny by winning Sunday at Phoenix.

Four of these eight drivers will advance to the championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 16. If one of these drivers wins Phoenix they automatically advance along with the three who have the most points. If none of them wins at Phoenix then the four drivers who have the most points move on. Only the four drivers who move into the Homestead race as Chase contenders have a shot at winning the 2014 series title.

Sunday’s race from Phoenix will be broadcast on television by ESPN (TSN in Canada) at 3 p.m. ET and on radio by MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90.
