We’ve turned the calendar to May when under normal circumstances we’d be eagerly anticipating the vroom vroom start of stock car racing in just a couple of short weeks. But this year, with COVID-19, life is anything but normal so we really have no idea when, or even if, we’ll be able to get to the track to see our favourite sport.

While many major festivals and sporting events in the region have been canceled there has so far been only one track in Atlantic Canada suspend its season. The others remain hopeful they may be able to open the gates at some point this year. That said, there will almost certainly be a new normal with distance and other restrictions.

Understand that track and series promoters have many things to consider when making such decisions, including but certainly not limited to the health of its fans and competitors, and will not make those decisions lightly, so please be patient with them and be thankful that they are willing to wait this out and see what they can do, and when they can do it.

With daily updates by government and health officials the situation is fluid, so expect changes, but this is what we know, so far…
