Stage Set for Saturday’s Street Stock Showdown at Oyster Bed Speedway June 20, 2017 Regional CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – One of the biggest street stock racing events ever to be held in Atlantic Canada goes this Saturday at Oyster Bed Speedway (OBS) at 5 p.m. A field of 37 cars have entered the event in hopes of qualifying for the $7,800 Discover KIA Maritime Street Stock Showdown main event 100 lap feature race which will see a starting grid of 30 cars. Cars will be traveling from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to join the local PEI drivers in this inaugural event. OBS support classes will also be on hand to entertain fans with more than 15 races on the card. The evening will see Free Admission for all youths 15 and under. The 50-50 proceeds will be donated to the QEH Pediatrics Unit. “This will be one of the best race nights of the season,” said event promoter Tom Nicholls. “The talk has been overwhelming, the racers are super pumped and the fans have been eagerly anticipating this one. We hope to see a capacity crowd cheer on these drivers from the Maritimes as we showcase the street stock class.” A Fan Fun Zone will be set up inside the main gate from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. including face painting, a bouncy castle, a fire truck display, Kia vehicle display and an area for fans to get their favourite drivers number heat pressed on t –shirts.
