“Wayne certainly knows these cars and most of the drivers,” said Ken Cunning, General Manager for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. “He’s smart, knowledgeable and will be a great addition to our team”.

Smith, a six-time pro stock tour series champion in the region known in his racing days as the Oval Outlaw, will be responsible for ensuring all competition and safety rules are followed by competitors during the 12-race season. He retired from full-time competition with the series after the 2011 season and has since run a limited schedule along with fulfilling his role as co-owner of Petty International Raceway in New Brunswick.

Smith is replacing Tim Bruce, as Bruce steps back to spend time with his children. Both of Tim’s daughters are accomplished athletes playing high-level softball during the summer.

“Tim will still be involved with the Tour, but not on a weekly basis,” said Cunning.

The 2016 Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour season gets underway on Saturday, May 21 with the Lucas Oil 100 at Scotia Speedworld.Stay tuned to www.maritimeprostocktour.com for complete event and season details.
