Kyle MacKinnon took the checkered flag in the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter 50 on Saturday night at Speedway 660. MacKinnon held off a late charge by Brodie Levesque to pick up the victory. Ashton Tucker won his first ever RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock feature, while John Rankin won the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman feature and Luc McLaughlin took the DMR Auto Street Stock feature.

McKinnon, the 2016 Sharp Shooter champion, controlled most of the 50 lap feature race before Levesque caught him with less than five laps to go. Matt Martin finished a strong third. McKinnon and Martin won the Sharp Shooter heat races.

“After blowing the engine the last time out, we’re glad to get back on the track and get this big win” said McKinnon. “Brodie was wicked fast at the end and when he caught me he tried to loosen me up to make the pass but I was fortunate to be able to hold him off.”

Ashton Tucker, the 2016 RE/MAX Pro Stock Rookie of the Year, ran the race of his life on Saturday night. Tucker held off several challengers in the 50 lap feature, including Brent Roy who settled for second. Rookie Ryan Messer finished third, picking up his first-ever Pro Stock podium. Tucker, Sarah McKay and Kevin Moore won the Pro Stock heat races.

“Winning one of these 50 lap features was one of our goals heading into the 2017 racing season and this win is something I will always remember” said Tucker in victory lane. “The car was great in practice and it stayed strong in the heat race and feature, so I’ve got to give the crew credit for their efforts tonight.”

John Rankin had the dominate car in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division on Saturday night. After winning his heat race, Rankin rolled to victory in the 40 lap feature ahead of Justin Cole and Jacob Logan. Cole won the other heat race.

Luc McLaughlin won the DMR Auto Street Stock 30 lap feature for the second time in 2017. McLaughlin finished ahead of Shawn Hyslop and Roger Slocum in an entertaining race. Riley Goodwin, who landed on his roof in the feature, and Chris Hanley won the Street Stock heat races.

Speedway 660 rolls back into action next Saturday night with the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 100. The RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stocks and DMR Auto Sales Street Stocks will also see action.
