Father’s Day 2017 is one John Rankin will remember for a long time. Rankin won the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 100 at Speedway 660, picking up a feature checkered flag for the second week in a row. Ryan Messer won his first-ever RE/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock feature, while Matt Crocker won his first DMR Auto Sales Street Stock feature.

“We were disappointed with the rain-out on Saturday night, but that gave us a chance to celebrate our son Landon’s 3rd birthday and to come out here and win the Martin’s Home Heating 100 on Father’s Day caps off a pretty special weekend, ” Rankin said from the Riverview Ford Victory Lane. “I wouldn’t be here racing every week if it wasn’t for Bob from Pub’s Drive Through Bottle Exchange and I want to thank him for having confidence in me and giving me the opportunity to drive his car.”

Rankin and Andrew Rodgers battled each other hard for the lead most of the race, but in the en, Rodgers faded and finished fourth, while Drew Greenlaw came home second and Alexandra O’Blenis finished third. Rankin and Matt Maillet won the Sportsman qualifying heat races.

Brady Creamer and Dave O’Blenis swapped the lead a few times in the Pro Stock feature, before spinning out and causing a caution. Dustin Tucker inherited the lead, but Ryan Messer moved him up the track and drove past on the bottom for the lead and the win. Tucker settled for second, while Brent Roy was third. Ashton Tucker, Dustin Tucker and Creamer won the Pro Stock heat races.

“It’s Father’s Day and I want to thank my Dad for spending so much time working on this car, so this win is for him,” said Messer. “Our goal this season was to get a podium finish and after accomplishing that last week, it’s unbelievable for us to follow that up with this feature win.”

Matt Crocker won the DMR Auto Sales Street Stock feature on Sunday afternoon ahead of points leader Luc McLaughlin and Rick Cashol. Destiny Enkle and Noah Gillespie won the Street Stock heat races.

Next Saturday night Speedway 660 resumes action with a visit by the brand new MJS Holdings East Coast Mini Stock Tour. Fans will also be treated to Pro Stock, Sportsman and Sharp Shooter action.
