Racing Returns to Sou'West Nova This Saturday
LAKE DOUCETTE, NS (June 23, 2010) - Stock car racing returns to southwestern Nova Scotia this Saturday as Lake Doucette
Motor Speedway hosts round two of the 2010 Napa Sportsman Series. The 3/8-mile 'D'-shaped asphalt oval opens under management of the Southwest
Stockcar Association with the help of area sponsors - including Belle Baie Park which has just posted a $1,000 bonus for the top three
finishers which brings the first place prize to $2,500.
A full field of sportsman cars is expected to enter the contest which will see heat races set the starting grid for the 100-lap
feature race. Four cylinder and outlaw divisions featuring local drivers will provide support class action for a full race card
starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. Grandstand admission is just $15 for adults, $10 for youth from 10 to 16. Children under 10 will be admitted
free.
Track officials have been working to upgrade the facility this spring with improvements to track safety including a new retaining wall and
catch fence along with a modifed entry/exit ramp to the track for the racecars. And fans who want to bring a folding chair will now find
a seating area to accomodate them.
The track will open Friday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. for practice.
