Flashback Friday - Ken Schrader
Posted August 21, 2009; Source - CTW.com archives
NASCAR racer Ken Schrader will be at Scotia Speedworld near Halifax tonight driving a sportsman car. Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. tonight; racing starts at 7 p.m. and will feature four other divisions besides the sportsman. There will be
a one-hour Ken Schrader autograph session between the heats and features.
Schrader made his first NASCAR start 25 years ago and has had a storied career since. Thought we'd take a peek through our hero card collection to see what we found - here are a few
of our favourites...

1987 - NASCAR Winston Cup Series (now Sprint Cup)...Schrader was driving the No. 90 Red Baron Frozen Pizza Thunderbird for legendary NASCAR car owner Junie
Donlavey with Bob Johnson as his crew chief...

1988 - NASCAR Winston Cup Series...Schrader was the pilot of the No. 25 TG Sheppard Folgers Monte Carlo for Hendrick Motorsports with another
legendary crew chief in Harry Hyde. Country music star T.G. Sheppard was affiliated with the team as official spokesperson...

1995 - NASCAR Winston Cup Series...Still with Hendrick Motorsports and driving the No. 25 Budweiser Chevrolet. Team owner Rick Hendrick said of Schrader:
"If you like racing, you've got to love Kenny Schrader. NASCAR drivers play golf, they have airplanes, they do all sorts of things.
But Kenny says, 'I don't want to sit at home, I don't want to play golf. I want to race.'" Schrader
was on the road racing more than 200 days in 1995...

1995...Schrader's own race team fielded entries for Schrader in what was the inaugural season for NASCAR's SuperTruck Series (now Camping World Truck Series)
along with the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series (now Nationwide), ASA, ARCA and Southwest Tour...
