Parts for Trucks 100 Set For Saturday at Speedway 660
    Posted July 24, 2008

GEARY, NB (July 23, 2008) - The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour is set to make its final appearance for '08 at Speedway 660 this Saturday night for the Parts for Trucks 100 - round seven of 11 for the series 2008 chase for the championship; and round two of four in the Parts For Trucks Challenge.

Two-time and defending series champion Shawn Tucker, a resident of nearby Fredericton and former Speedway 660 pro stock division champion, is the defending race champion having picked up the checkers in the series '07 summer visit to Speedway 660.

Tucker enters this years edition of the race looking to claim his second victory on the season and to tighten this years points race where he sits in third spot - coincidentally behind same two competitors he battled with for the '07 title: current points leader Wayne Smith (from Halifax, NS) and second-place Shawn Turple (from Enfield, NS). Tucker sits just seven markers behind Turple and 39 behind Smith.

Turple won the series first visit to the Geary woods this season and Smith runs well there also - so the battle will be tight amongst them as well as fourth-place Lonnie Sommerville (from Saint John), a former winner of the annual Peterbilt 250 at Speedway 660. Sommerville is tied for the fourth spot with Kent Vincent (from Crapaud, PE); both are just four markers behind Tucker.

The Parts for Trucks 100 at Speedway 660 will feature series regulars as well as top runners from the tracks weekly pro stock division including: Brent Wiggins (Fredericton), Greg Fahey (St. Stephen) and Matt Harris (Fredericton Jct.).

The Parts for Trucks Challenge is a mini-series where series regulars accumulate points based on their finishing positions in each of the four Parts for Trucks-sponsored events on the 2008 CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour schedule. A bonus is paid the top three Parts for Trucks Challenge points-getters at the series annual awards banquet.

Two rounds of qualifying will set the 26-car starting field for Saturday's Parts for Trucks 100 at Speedway 660. Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials start at 5:10 p.m.; racing starts with pro stock heat races at 6 p.m.

Speedway 660's Martins Home Heating Sportsman and Coast Tire Street Stock will join the cars and stars of the CARQUEST Tour on the evening race card.
