Dartmouth’s Nicholas Naugle finished the best of three Nova Scotia entries in Saturday’s PASS National/South Series Mason Dixon Meltdown season finale at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina. Naugle wound up eighth on the field with Porters Lake’s Cole Butcher 12th, and Maine’s Cassius Clark brought the Pictou-based entry from King Racing home in 21st.

Mooresville, NC’s Brandon Setzer, son of retired NASCAR racer Dennis Setzer, won the race and Maine’s Ben Rowe’s sealed his sixth PASS National championship with his fifth=place finish.

Butcher started the race from the third spot after qualifying 10th and by lap 100 was in the lead for a few laps, eventually falling back with a reported bent rear end. Clark started 32nd on the field with no practice due to the late arrival of his race car. He ran as high as fifth before a flat tire mid-way in the race put them back in the pack and down laps after pitting under green. Naugle started near the back of the pack after qualifying through the last chance race and kept his nose clean for the top 10 finish.
