NELLES CORNERS, ON – The experience for race fans, teams, and drivers at Jukasa Motor Speedway will soon be significantly enhanced after the installation of a state-of-the-art LED lighting system.

Management at Jukasa made the decision to install new lighting in an effort to enhance visibility for drivers and fans in attendance. They needed a lighting solution that would significantly improve light quality and uniformity on the track, without creating glare for anyone at the Speedway.

The project team at Jukasa explored several options and visited other sporting facilities to observe the performance of different LED lighting applications. One facility they visited featured the system-based TLC for LED™ technology developed by Musco Lighting, while the other had LED fixtures from another manufacturer. They found the patented light control technology of Musco’s LED system to be far superior in terms of visibility and the reduction of glare.

“After seeing the performance, functionality, and options this system gives us, we knew Musco’s solution was what we were looking for,” said Alex Nagy, General Manager at Jukasa. “The instant on/off really helps with efficiency, and it interfaces with our DMX board which will help create an even better fan experience. When this is installed, I don’t think you’ll find a better oval track lighting system anywhere in Canada.”

In addition to the whiter, more uniform light and improved visibility on the speedway, Jukasa will benefit from the long-term reliability and trouble-free operation of a system complete with lighting, structural, and electrical components that have been engineered to work together.

“This investment, along with everything else we’re updating, will bring Canada’s Crown Jewel back to its rightful place in the motorsports industry,” Nagy said. “We want to be leaders in our industry, and by becoming the first race track in Canada with an LED lighting system, we’re doing just that.”

The new lighting is backed by a 25-year warranty that covers parts and labor, eliminating any maintenance concerns and costs at Jukasa over the long term. With the system in place, CO2 emissions will be cut by 3,872 tons compared to typical 1500-watt metal halide equipment, and Jukasa’s energy and operating costs over the next 25-years will be reduced by $1,040,000.

“The team a Jukasa refused to cut corners. They did the research and are committed to finding the highest quality system for their unique needs,” said Jeff Rogers, Vice President of Musco Lighting.

“We’ve innovated the most effective lighting solutions to meet the unique needs for race tracks from Charlotte Motor Speedway, to Daytona, to international F1 circuits, and now to Jukasa. Our engineers and project managers look forward to working closely with their team to design a custom LED system that will transform the experience for racers and fans.”
