Geary, NB (June 16, 2007)- Wayne Smith of Timberlea, NS won the PARTS FOR TRUCKS 100 for the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour
at New Brunswick International Speedway (NBIS), near Fredericton, NB on Saturday night. Smith, Shaun Turple of Enfield, NS,
Kent Vincent of Crapaud, PE, and Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, NB all battled side by side for the last seven laps. Smith
beat Turple to the line by a mere 0.004-second. Tucker finished third, ahead of Vincent. EIT Rookie of the Race Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, NB rounded out the top five.
Tucker won the halfway leader award and the Most Laps Led Award. Over 2000 fans saw 9 cautions and one red flag slow the event, which took one hour and fourty minutes to complete. The red flag was for a rollover when Bob White of Kennetcook, NS grenaded a motor while running in the eighth position. Myles of Fredericton Junction, NB hit the oil, went up the embankment and rolled his car.
Kris Fournier of Charlottetown, PE and Brad Mann of Campbellton, NB won heat races. Tucker won the Dash for the Pole, featuring the top nine finishers in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials. Sommerville had the fastest time on the 1/4 mile oval, at an average speed of over 65.862 miles per hour. None of the top five cars opted to take the Rockico Truck and Trailer Pole Challenge.
Twenty-seven of the Maritimes top drivers attempted to qualify for the Main Feature. The Urquart MacDonald Associates "B" Feature determined the final qualifying positions for the main event. Dale Holmes of Charlottetown, PE won the event over Mike Stevens of Moncton, NB and Darren MacKinnon of Charlottetown, PE.
The next stop on the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour is on June 30th at the newly repaved ¼ mile oval at Raceway Park, in Oyster Bed Bridge, PE. The Parts for Trucks 100 will be the first event on the new asphalt, which was laid by racers from Prince Edward Island and those that donated to the Racers Pavement Fund.

Preview: The Parts For Trucks 100
Source: NBIS
Fredericton, NB (June 12, 2007) - The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour is heading to the Geary Woods
this weekend and the Parts for Truck 100 is promising to be one of the best
tour events ever held at NBIS. Upwards of 30 cars are expected to make their
way to the track this Saturday night for the tour's first NBIS visit
of the season. Green flag is scheduled to fly at 6pm (5:10 start for time
trials).
This week's lineup will reflect both quantity and quality with the Pro
Stocks from the tour racing. Defending tour champion John Flemming, current
points leader Mike Mackenzie, (who just won his first race since 2004),
Rollie MacDonald and Wayne Smith are expected as well as several drivers
familiar with NBIS including Saint John's Lonnie Sommerville, 2006 Peterbilt
250 Champion and Fredericton's Shawn Tucker, who calls NBIS his home track
and is another former tour champion and Peterbilt 250 champion. In addition,
the race will also feature the return of three-time NBIS CARQUEST Pro Stock
Division Champion, Brad Mann, along with the familiar faces of Shawn Turple
and his new ride, and Frank Fraser who has jumped out of retirement to take
part in the tour for the 2007 season.
In addition to the Parts for Trucks 100, fans will be treated to points
racing in the Martin's Home Heating Sportsman (30-lap feature) and Coast
Tire Street Stocks (20-lap feature). Some of the newest additions to podium
finishes were admitted last weekend as fans seen another great week of
racing at NBIS. This weekend the driver's of each division, excluding the
CARQUEST Pro Stocks division, will battle one another for championship
points. Currently the 2006 Street Stock Champion, Rick Cashol, holds a five
point lead over Mike Francis in the Coast Tire Street Stock division and in
the Martin's Home Heating Sportsman division the 2006 Champion, Brian
MacNaughton has a one point lead of last week's feature winner, Glynn Nott.
Could we possibly see the 2006 champs lose their first place ranking in the
points and see a new leader?
If necessary, the rain date is Sunday, June 17 at 2:00pm. In the event of questionable weather, fans and drivers should call
506-454-RACE (7223) for event status before leaving for the facility.
