Ben Rowe Wins Full Fendered Frenzy 75

NAPLES, ME (July 14, 2007) – Maine’s Ben Rowe started on the pole and won the race when the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models visited Thompson Speedway (CT) to take part in the Full Fendered Frenzy show on Saturday night, but his ride from flag to flag was hardly an easy one.

Rowe battled with Rick Martin early on, trading the lead several times. Late in the race, Rowe held off a charge by rookie Trevor Sanborn to take the victory. It was the first win at Thompson in Rowe’s career.

Mike Rowe, Richie Dearborn and Adam Bates rounded out the top five finishers.

With the victory, Ben Rowe now unofficially extends his point lead in the series.

The PASS North Super Late Models will return to action Saturday, July 21st for the IWK 250 at Riverside Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

When a short track racing tour comes to a track and can do battle with the top guns who race weekly at that facility, it is a very good thing for the fans – and that is exactly what will be in store on Saturday, July 14th at Thompson International Speedway.

The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North tour will be featured as part of Thompson’s “Full Fendered Frenzy” program. The race will include a 75-lap PASS North feature, along with a NASCAR Busch East Series event and the track’s regular weekly divisions. Well, all of the divisions bar one.

Thompson’s Pro Stock teams are welcome to enter the PASS North event – and five competitors have already fielded their entries for the race – Norm Wrenn, Fred Astle, Dennis Maxfield, Michael Rivard and Lesile Rose, Jr. are all set to take on the tourers.

Astle and Wrenn both came away from last year’s PASS North race at Thompson with top 10 finishes – so they are hoping to back that up again this time around.

PASS President Tom Mayberry is happy to see that local racers be able to step up and race with the tour regulars.

“I love it when the local guys take on the PASS guys,” said Mayberry. “That always makes for a good show. Guys like Fred Astle and Norm Wrenn are always capable of running with the tour regulars. Our rules package allows everyone to come and race equally, so this should be a good show. We’ve had a long association with Thompson and Don Hoenig and his staff are big supporters of the tour. We’re really looking forward to Full fendered Frenzy.”

Full Fendered Frenzy will take place on Saturday, July 14th at Thompson International Speedway (CT). Grandstands will open will open at 12:30pm. Race teams will practice until 4pm, qualifying is scheduled for 4:15pm followed by feature event racing.

The PASS 75-lap main is scheduled to go green at about 7:30pm with the Busch East 100-lap, televised feature, slated for an 8:30pm start.

Tickets for this very special event may be obtained by calling the Thompson International Speedway track office at 860-923-2280.
