    CHECKERED FLAG NOTES...
    • Kudos to top local finisher Donald Chisholm, who wound up fourth. Chisholm ran door-handle to door-handle with the top finishers in the late stages of the race...
    • A four-car front-stretch pileup on a lap 11 restart saw Wayne Smith, Dean MacInnis, Cy Harvey and Gary Bellefleur involved. Bellefleur and Smith made repairs and got back in the race several laps down...Harvey and MacInnis were done for the night
    • The melee started when Shawn Turple broke a rear-end on the restart; Turple was running mid-pack at the time, the wreck behind him was a chain reaction...
    • John Flemming bounced back from early problems to get the "lucky dog" - free pass back to lead lap status - resulting in his sixth-place finish...
    • Ben Rowe bent something on the front end of his racer before lap 10, then pitted for several laps while his team made repairs; when he returned to the track on lap 32, he was able to run with - and even pass - the leaders for the duration of the show...
    • Trevor Sanborn was hoping to celebrate his 20th birthday in Victory Lane; he led many laps and was running down leader Mike Rowe in the closing stages when he spun out entering turn three..He went down a lap before he got going again...
    • Race leaders and lead changes unofficially included: Richie Dearborn (grid-53), Johnny Clark (54-81), Mike Rowe (82-126, lost lead when he pitted), Derek Ramstrom (127-128), Trevor Sanborn (129-163), Mike Rowe (164-190), Adam Bates (191-196), Mike Rowe (197-250).
    • The race was 250 green flag laps, but they counted cautions for scoring purposes - meaning the teams could lose a lap in the pits if the they were passed by the pace car while making their stop. Created exciting pit stop action - but because the scoreboard count included the caution laps, it was confusing for most of the audience, i.e. when the scoreboard read 240 laps, they were really on lap 190...
    • In support class action rookie Mike Alexander of Dartmouth won his second Hobby Stock feature race of the summer in a 50-lap race. Alexander was followed across the finish line by Al Johnston of Goffs in second place and Alex Johnson of Milford in third place. The points leader entering this race, Mark Wilson of Lantz was fourth and terry Moore of Shubenacadie was fifth. Brandon Niles of Truro took the victory in Bandolero cars. Shelby Baker of Fall River was second with D.J. Casey of Hatchett Lake third. The Butcher brothers of Porters Lake finished fourth and fifth. Cole was fourth while younger brother Jarred was fifth.
    • August 9-10 was announced as the date for the 2008 running of the Atlantic CAT 250...It will be the one and only stop for PASS at Scotia Speedworld next year...

*ENTRY LIST NOTES: New Glasgow's George Koszkulics was on the expected entry list published by the track, however, has withdrawn his entry due to technical difficulties...There are published reports saying Lonnie Sommerville is expected to enter; as of Thursday night he does not plan to make the haul from Saint John (NB)...There are also published reports mentioning Cassius Clark as an expected entry; according to reports out of Maine, Cassius and his car owner have parted ways...We're checking to see if there is any chance he'll be in one of Henderson's cars this weekend (like he was for the IWK 250)... Answer is "no, that car was wrecked in Antigonish"...Since he's not on the expected entry list announced by the track, we're assuming he won't be there...We have confirmed Brian Northrup plans to enter the Atlantic CAT 250, driving the No. 14 car fielded by Provincial Pavement. Northrup, from Enfield, has raced everything from hobby stocks to pro stocks in the last 25+ years, nothing full-time since the early 90s. Preview: Atlantic CAT 250
Posted August 7/07; Source: Scotia Speedworld

Halifax, NS (August 6, 2007) – The Atlantic Cat 250 Speed weekend is on tap August 10th and 11th, with two days of hard-chargin', fender-bangin', paint-swappin', wall slappin', elbows-up short track racing action.

The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) is at Scotia Speedworld for the Atlantic Cat 250, pitting the best New England drivers against the best of the Maritimes. It’s a battle of the border, with both sides looking to grab the bragging rights. The last few years have seen the Americans take the top spots, but the Maritimers have been making strides in closing the gap and appear poised to wreck some havoc on the US driver’s victory celebrations.

Friday night sees the PASS cars running qualifying heats for the Atlantic Cat 250. The feature race of the evening is the Lockhart Truck Center 100 lap Sportsman race. These drivers have been preparing their cars for this night for most of the summer, trying to get everything just perfect for this prestigious race. The Miller Tire/BF Goodrich Thunder & Lightning cars are providing the supporting division for the night and will showcase their side-by-side action from the drop of the green flag, until the checkered flag flies.

Lockhart Truck Center is also presenting their Truck Show n Shine in the main grandstand parking lot before the night’s racing. Then the big rigs will provide the always-popular parade lap for the night’s racing. All trucks are welcome in the Show n Shine and are made up of mostly working trucks with some restored antiques and near antiques for interest.

Saturday night sees the action of the Atlantic Cat 250 PASS race. 250 laps of hard charging racing action, with Johnny Clark of Farmingdale, ME looking for a repeat of 2006, when he took the victory on the Halifax 3/10-mile facility. Clark will have lots of company striving for that victory with PASS points leader Ben Rowe, his dad Mike, Richie Dearborn, Trevor Sanborn and Cassius Clark all expected to make the tow to Halifax. Add Maritime drivers, Shawn Turple, Wayne Smith, Lonnie Sommerville, Bobby White, Greg Proude, Rollie MacDonald, Donald Chisholm and George Koszkulics looking to prove their driving skills to their American cousins and the night has the makings for a heck of a race. The Bandolero cars and the Hobby Stocks will be providing the support divisions for the night.

Racing is slated to start at 7 pm on Friday, August 10th and 6 pm on Saturday August 11th, with the grandstands opening at 4 pm and 3 pm respectively.

Admission for adults is $20 Friday, August 10th and $35 Saturday, August 11th, with a two-day ticket at $40. Youth tickets are $5 for both Friday and Saturday, with a two-day ticket at $6. Children seven and under are admitted free of charge. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Access to the pits is restricted to those 16 and older, except the Bandolero drivers and is $25 on Friday and $40 on Saturday, with a two-day ticket at $45.

    Event History
