Pre-Race Notes & Quotes
Bobby Hamilton, Jr., No. 18 Fastenal Racing Dodge
Bobby Hamilton Jr. will be making his first NCTS start at Texas Motor Speedway. The Sam’s Town 400 at Texas Motor Speedway
will mark Hamilton Jr.’s 14th NCTS career start. “We almost won there in the Busch car. It’s one of our favorite tracks.
We’re looking forward to going there in the truck because it’s one of those wide open racetracks. We’ll get the Fastenal
Dodge low and get it driving good, and it ought to be fast. Texas is a really forgiving racetrack. You can get two or three
wide there – at least the last time I was there you could. I don’t know if they’ve done anything different with tires.
Overall it’s a real, real aggressive and fast racetrack, so it makes it fun to drive the truck there.”
Erin Crocker, No. 98 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge
"I am excited to get to Texas. It is the truck that I ran in Charlotte. It was not only comfortable it was fast. The guys found
some things that can improve the truck. I am looking forward to it. I like the mile and a half tracks, so we should have a pretty
good run there. I have been there a number of times to watch my teammates in the Cup and Busch series. I have raced the sprint
car at the dirt track not to far from the speedway. So it will be a fun trip back to Texas.”
Mike Skinner, No. 5 Bill Davis Racing
Mike Skinner and the No. 5 Toyota Tundra team are trying to break a record while at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. The
team is going for its fourth consecutive pole position. No driver in any of the three top NASCAR touring series has been
able to complete the task of four consecutive poles at Texas Motor Speedway. Three weeks ago, the No. 5 team captured its
first pole of the season at Texas Motor Speedway’s sister track, Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Skinner has captured the top spot 25 times in
his NCTS career. Mike and Angie Skinner will join team owners Bill and Gail
Davis on a motorcycle expedition after the Sam’s Town 400. The two couples
will ride from Justin, Texas, to Brooklyn, Mich., which will be a five-day,
1,300-mile journey.
Todd Bodine, No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota
"Texas is an exciting track and I have always run well there," said Bodine. "I have won two out of the three races I have run in
my NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career at Texas. I am looking forward to running at Texas again and hope to get my third
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career win there as well. It would be awesome to make the sweep as I have never won the spring
race at Texas." Todd Bodine will be seeking his third NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career win at Texas Motor Speedway
as he and his No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota Tundra team get ready for this Friday nights Sam's Town 400 Ft. Worth, Texas.
Bodine won last years fall NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway and is hoping to rope in another win.
Ted Musgrave, No. 9 Team ASE/Germain Toyota
"I am looking forward to running at Texas," said Musgrave. "After Mansfield and Dover I am hoping our luck will change for Texas . I
have won the pole in Texas in the past and would like to take home a win this time. A strong finish there would get us back
on track in this points chase." In 10 starts in his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career at Texas Musgrave has a career
best finish of second. This will be Musgrave's first time out without his familiar No. 1 Mopar Dodge for Ultra Motorsports.
Instead, the reigning NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion will be driving his No. 9 Team ASE Germain Toyota Tundra for Germain Racing.
Joey Miller, No. 12 Curb Records Toyota Tundra
Miller piloted the No. 12 Toyota Tundra five times for Darrell Waltrip Motorsports last year. Texas was one of five
race tracks where the Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender gained experience. “I’m glad that I was able to race at Texas
last year,” Miller said, who finished 25th in the 147-lap event last November. “I kind of know what to expect going into
this weekend. I learned a lot about the track and I know how unique it is. Being a rookie is not easy, but it’s easier when
you actually have been to the track before.”
