Martin Bests Bodine for Bristol Truck Series Win
BRISTOL, TN (August 23, 2006) - Mark Martin’s fourth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory of the 2006 season looked simple enough – and it was, thanks to strategy called by Scotts Ford crew chief Mike Beam.
Just 30 laps into Wednesday night’s O’Reilly 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway, Beam called Budweiser Pole winner and race leader Martin to pit road for a quick fill-up of Sunoco fuel and the driver was good to go for the rest of the 200 laps.

Post-Race Notes
- This is Mark Martin's fourth win of the season and fifth of his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career. That's the most of any driver. His last win came at Dover International Speedway on June 2. He is the first driver to win in all three national touring series divisions at Bristol Motor Speedway.
- This is the third time that Martin and Bodine have finished one-two in 2006 - at Daytona, California and Bristol. Bodine finished first with Martin second at Atlanta giving the pair four one-two finishes on the season.
- This is the third time the Budweiser Pole winner has finished first in the O'Reilly 200. The last time was 1998 when Ron Hornaday Jr. won the race. Hornaday also won from the pole in 1997.
- Jack Roush extends his lead in career victories by an owner. Tonight's race marks win No. 41 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
- This is Ford's sixth victory of the 2006 season, second to Toyota's eight.
- Erik Darnell is the highest finishing Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate. He finished 18th.
- Todd Bodine maintains his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship lead. He unofficially heads Johnny Benson by 154 points with eight races remaining on the schedule.
Qualifying Notes
- Budweiser Pole Winner: Mark Martin; No. 6 Scotts Ford; 15.320 seconds, 125.248 mph
- This is Mark Martin's second Budweiser Pole of the 2006 season and second career. He sat on the pole and won the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway.
- Roush Racing has recorded four poles in the season's first 17 races. David Ragan was the pole winner at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. Erik Darnell won the most recent pole at Nashville Superspeedway.
- Martin has not competed in the series since mid-June when he finished second at Michigan International Speedway. He has six top-five finishes in his seven 2006 starts.
- Aric Almirola's second-place qualifying performance matches his career-best start. He was the No. 2 qualifier at Indianapolis earlier this month.
- All four manufacturers landed a spot among the top six qualifiers. Martin's Ford is first, Almirola's Chevrolet is second, Brendan Gaughan's Dodge took the No. 3 spot and Mike Skinner - the defending O'Reilly 200 winner - will start sixth.
- Two Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidates will start among the top 10: Almirola and Marcos Ambrose. Ambrose qualified ninth in his first visit to Bristol International Speedway.
- Chuck Maitlen is the only non-qualifier as 37 teams attempted for the race's 36 starting positions.
