1:30 p.m. - Over 150 campers packed in to enjoy the weekend at Riverside Speedway.


1:56 p.m. - The site is ready for the gates to open, just a little more than an hour away.


1:57 p.m. - Crews are working on their cars readying for the first practice session at 2:30.


2:30 p.m. - A few fans arrived early to watch practice. The stands were cleared for the 3 p.m. gate opening.


2:07 p.m. - The view from the top of the hill overlooking turn one - notice the parking lot in the background and the sides of the both the track road and the Trans Canada Highway, then look at the shot taken at 5:22 p.m.


3:00 p.m. - More than 1,000 fans were lined up for the grandstand gate opening. The line started forming around 1:30 p.m.


3:49 p.m. - Many former Maritime racers were on hand to enjoy the re-opening of their favourite track. Caught these four doing some bench racing in the grandstands: (left to right) Dougie MacNeil, Joey Baker, Ivan Langille and Laurie Roué.


5:22 p.m. - With more than a half hour before racing started, the grounds were full, as were the sides of the track roads and both sides of the adjacent Trans Canada Highway for as far as the eye could see.


5:59 p.m. - The stands were full to overflowing, with fans filling the hillside overlooking the track and standing three-deep behind the top row. An estimated 8,000 fans filled the new facility for the event.


7:45 p.m. - Re-opening ceremonies included speeches by many area dignitaries - all giving their thanks to John Chisholm and his staff for the revitalization of the facility - and acknowledging what it will do for the community and surrounding areas.


7:56 p.m. - CARQUEST Tour GM Ken Cunning said all those involved in the Maritime stock car racing owe John Chisholm a debt of gratitude.


8:01 p.m. - Mr. John Chisholm thanked all those who helped him with his vision to recreate the speedway he originally built in 1968 - including the many fans who were on hand - and gave Mr. Chisholm not one, but two, standing ovations.


8:03 p.m. - The group of racers starting The Antigonish Mall 200 stood on the side lines to watch the re-opening ceremony.


8:25 p.m. - And then "the game" began...Wayne Smith (44) and Rollie MacDonald (13) led the 29-car field to the green flag - which was thrown by John Chisholm.


9:30 p.m. - The mandatory lap 100 fuel stop saw the field file to pit road in two groups for gas only.


10:21 p.m. - Shawn Turple completes his victory lap after winning the Antigonish Mall 200, his first CARQUEST Tour victory.


10:22 p.m. - An elated crew chief Curtis Lindsay was the first crew member to the car to congratulate Shawn.


10:23 p.m. - The rest of the Atlantic CAT crew gathered round the car shortly thereafter.


10:25 p.m. - Then posed for a picture for CheckersToWreckers.com.


10:27 p.m. - John Chisholm (right) presented Shawn Turple with the winner's hardware.


10:29 p.m. - Then the top three posed for a picture with Mr. Chisholm: (left to right) George Koszkulics - 2nd place, Shawn Turple - winner, Wayne Smith - 3rd place, and John Chisholm.


10:30 p.m. - A display of fireworks was the perfect ending to a perfect day!
