click here for Andy Campbell's bio Raceway Park's 1/4 mile oval is one tough place to run. If you've never raced there before, you're first taste is often bitter. Maybe that's why the Island drivers, so familiar with the bumpy, rutty track have such a strangle-hold on success there.

Greg Proude won the Parts For Trucks 100, his second CMPST win, both of which have come on the Oyster Bed Bridge oval.

Proude's win in is also the fifth in a row for Island drivers. That's great to see, because it keeps the fans coming out.

Ten PEIers were among the 30 pro stockers attempting to make the 26 car field for the PFT 100. Nine of the 10 from the Island made it in. Rookie Roger Crane, despite his familiarity with RP, struggled and was among the four to miss the cut.

    Ryan Resumes Point Lead

Gordie Ryan's first, third, and second-place finishes, respectively, on the 06 Tour have resulted in his overtaking two-time series champion John Flemming to assume the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour championship point lead - by just one point. Click here for the complete current point standings.

Proude Wins Parts for Trucks 100 in PEI

OYSTER BED BRIDGE, PEI (July 1, 2006) - UNOFFICIAL RESULTS - Greg Proude crossed the finish line first to win The Parts for Trucks 100 at Raceway Park. Gordie Ryan was second and Wayne Smith was third. Kent Vincent and John Flemming rounded out the top five.

The race was run off quickly, in just over 50 minutes, and saw just six caution periods.

30 cars entered the race, 26 started the feature.

Proude took the point on lap 44 when the first and second place runners, Dale Holmes and Shawn Tucker, got together. Proude was third at the time, after starting fourth.

The win was Proude's second career win on the CARQUEST Tour; the first coming in the 2005 edition of The Parts for Trucks 100 at Raceway Park. Proude's win also stretches the Island hold on the tight oval at Raceway Park - now five consecutive races since anyone other than someone that calls PEI home - has visited Victory Lane at Raceway Park in a CARQUEST Tour race. Gordie Ryan was the last to accomplish the feat in August 03.

Proude joins Ryan and Flemming in the "2006 Victory Lane Gang" - three different winners in the series first three events of 06.

Holmes set fast time in time trials at 14.190 seconds.

Tucker won the Motor Mart Dash. Shawn Turple, Bobby Nielsen and Brad Mann won the heat races. Dave Potter won the B Feature.

The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour moves to Scotia Speedworld next Saturday (July 8) for round four of 11 on the 06 championship chase.

PST to PEI for Canada Day

Charlottetown, PE (June 27, 2006) – The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour will spend Canada Day in PEI, the birthplace of Confederation, for the Parts For Trucks 100 at Raceway Park in Oyster Bed Bridge. John Flemming (Halifax, NS) and Gordie Ryan (Wellington, NS) are leading the point standings, with Flemming holding a five-point lead over Ryan. Saturday’s race.

The big question: Can the Island drivers continue their hold on the winner’s circle? An Island driver has won the last four CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour events at Raceway Park - Kent Livingston (Charlottetown) and Kent Vincent (Crapaud) in 2004 and Greg Proude (North Wiltshire) and Dale Holmes (West Covehead) in 2005. You have to go back to August 3 of '03, when Ryan was the winner, to find an off-Island driver in victory lane. Click here for the rest of the story.
