Photo Gallery: Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame Inaugural Induction Ceremony
MONCTON, NB (November 20, 2006) - The inaugural induction ceremony for the Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame was
held in Moncton Saturday night. A capacity crowd was on hand to see the Class of 2006 inducted as the first 10 members of the
prestigious club established to honour the achievements of individuals and groups that have made significant
contributions all genres of Maritime motorsports.

Each of the inductees or their representatives signed two checkered flags before the event started; one to
be auctioned as a fundraiser during the evening and the other as a keeper to be displayed in the MMHOF. This is Walter Brooks.

Don Nickerson did the honours for the Nickerson Family.
Frank Fraser represented his son, the late Scott Fraser.

Ruth Jackson did the honours for her late husband, Alton "Booie" Jackson.

MMHOF President Ernie McLean welcomed the capacity crowd to the event.
The capacity crowd enjoyed a roast beef dinner before the formal award ceremony began.
Earle Doucette was one of the M.C.'s.
Glen Hoar was the other M.C.

Ken is known far and wide for his flamboyant style of flagging events - having done so at many Maritime facilities.
Walter Brooks (right) was formally inducted next. Category: Competitor/Drag Racing. Walter was a top drag racer and also contributed to the building of Scoudouc Dragway.
Bill Hickey (left) made the presentation to James (Jim) D'Arcy Jr. Category: Competitor/Drag Racing.
Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame member Jim Hallahan (left) made the presentation to Caleb Dunn.
Competitor/Stock Car Racing. Caleb started racing in 1951 on dirt tracks in New Brunswick. In the 60s and 70s, Caleb Dunn and
stock car racing were synonymous in the Moncton area.
Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame member and former car owner for Scott Fraser, Rollie MacDonald (left), made the Scott Fraser
presentation to Scott's father Frank Fraser. Category: Competitor & Car Builder/Stock Car Racing. Scott Fraser was not only a
top driver but also built some of the best racecars on the eastern seaboard. he proved his skill, as a racer and a builder,
in the USA as well as in the Maritimes. At the age of 33, Scott died in a snowmobile accident on March 20, 2004.
Then came the flag auction - which raised $350.
Sharon Pollock made the presentation to Ruth Jackson for her husband, the late Alton "Booie" Jackson.
Category: Antique Car Collector. Alton was one of the first members of the Antique Car Club, with his primary interest being Hudson's.
Alex Kilpatrick (right) received his award from Paul Forgrave. Category: Builder/Organizer. Alex was a founder of a motor cycle club and three car clubs. He also worked as an official at numerous tracks including Mosport, Watkins Glen, and Shannonville.
Nancy Hoar (center) and Mike McCrea (right) represented the Moncton Motor Sport Club as it was inducted.
The club was started in 1961 by a group of motorsports enthusiasts and incorporated in 1963 as a non-profit organization. The members organize and participate in events locally and throughout the Atlantic region.
The Nickerson Family (Don, Norma, Barry, Glenn) presentation was made by Billy McLean (center).
Category: Karting/Builders. Don and Norma were driving forces behind the start of kart racing in the Maritimes. Barry and Glenn competed at national levels with great success, and were Maritime and Club champions.
Shane Scott was the final inductee of the evening, receiving his induction from Herman Berry, Jr. Category:
Competitor/Motocross Racing. Shane has won several Atlantic Championships as well as the Canadian Supercross Championship.
