Burton Breaks Dry Spell to Win at Dover and Take Chase Lead

Dover, Del. (September 24, 2006) -- Jeff Burton is back in victory lane after a long dry spell.

The popular veteran driver from Virginia battled side by side with former NASCAR champion Matt Kenseth at Dover International Speedway, passing him with six laps to go for Burton's first win in more than 160 races.

Kenseth, one of the fastest cars all day, had his ford sideways several times during the battle trying to hold off burton in his Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.

Burton, however, doggedly kept hounding Kenseth until he finally slipped past cleanly.

click for more pictures Kenseth ran out of gas one lap from the end and wound up 10th, which cost him the lead in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup. Click here for the rest of the story.
