    Kevin Harvick Wins Goody’s 250 at Martinsville Speedway

    MARTINSVILLE, Va. (July 22, 2006) – The Richard Childress Racing shop in Welcome, N.C. is just an hour’s drive south of Martinsville, Va., and its drivers were right at home at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday. Kevin Harvick won the Goody’s 250, in the NASCAR Busch Series’ return to Martinsville Speedway after an 11-year absence. It was Harvick’s fourth NASCAR Busch Series win of the season and the 21st of his NASCAR Busch Series career. Click here for the rest of the story.

    • Goody's 250 Winner: Kevin Harvick, No. 21 Coast Guard Chevrolet, Crew Chief: Todd Berrier; Owner: Richard Childress
    • This is Kevin Harvick's fourth win this season; his other wins came at Nashville, Phoenix and Richmond.
    • The win was Harvick's 21st of his career.
    • This is Harvick's 18th top-10 finish this year.
    • Harvick continues to lead the NASCAR Busch Series point standings.
    • Clint Bowyer, who won his first Busch Pole earlier in the day, finished second; it was Bowyer's seventh top five of the season.


    Qualifying Notes
    • Goody's 250, Busch Pole Winner: Clint Bowyer, Qualifying Speed: 95.951 (new track record)
    • Clint Bowyer won his fourth career Busch Pole; it's his first Busch Pole this year.
    • Bowyer's other poles came at Talladega (2004), Pikes Peak and California (2005).
    • Bowyer hasn't won a race from the pole.
    • Bowyer will start 14th in tomorrow's NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race.
    • Bowyer's speed of 95.951 broke the track record which was set by Jimmy Hensley in 1987 (92.774).
    • Bowyer is currently third in NASCAR Busch Series point standings.


    Leffler Has Top Speed In Martinsville Busch Series Test

    MARTINSVILLE, VA (July 20, 2006) - The NASCAR Busch Series returned to Martinsville Speedway today for the first time in 12 years for an open test session that included stars from the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series that will pull double duty this weekend and race in Saturday's Goody's 250. The test session kicked off at 12 noon and by mid-practice, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Denny Hamlin, Reed Sorenson and Jason Leffler rounded out the top five speeds.

    Eric McClure was involved in an incident during the last hour of practice, which wrapped up at 7 p.m., and was released back to the garage area. The day ended with Jason Leffler pulling in the quickest time of the practice session with a speed of 95.213 and a time of 19.888. Steve Wallace, Johnny Sauter, Mark McFarland, Paul Menard, Kevin Harvick, David Green Clint Bowyer, John Andretti and Kyle Busch came home with the top ten speeds of the day.

    Friday, July 21, there will be a practice from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. followed by a rookie practice from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The final practice for the

    NASCAR Busch Series will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday admission is $5. Qualifying is set for 12:05 p.m. Saturday, July 22 with the Goody's 250 set to start at 3:30 p.m. Goody's 250 tickets are on sale and may be purchased by calling 877.RACE.TIX or visiting www.racetickets.com on the web.
