Clint Bowyer Wins the Dover 200
DOVER, DE (September 23, 2006) - Clint Bowyer won the Dover 200 to pick up his first NASCAR Busch Series victory of 2006 and the ninth win of the season for his car owner Richard Childress. Bowyer became the sixteenth different winner in the series this year. Scott Riggs drove his Evernham Motorsports Dodge to the pole and led for the first 41 laps until Martin Truex Jr. took the front spot. Series point leader Kevin Harvick started deep in the field but worked his way up through the pack to finish third after a late race duel with runner-up Matt Kenseth.
A record-setting 13 cautions slowed the field with the usual spins and a few wall bumping incidents. Reed Sorenson finished sixth after spinning off the fourth turn into the inside wall on the frontstretch at the checkered flag. The several spins were due in part to what the drivers termed a lack of grip in the track surface. No injuries were reported.
