Qualifying for the Daytona 500 is unlike any other auto racing qualifying procedure. Drivers have two chances to qualify for the season-opening race, as opposed to the usual format of one qualifying session per event. The first chance comes via Daytona 500 Qualifying, held Sunday, Feb. 19 - in which Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle were locked into the front row for the Daytona 500 - by virtue of their qualifying speeds. The other chance is the Gatorade Duel at Daytona, two 150-mile qualifying races held on Thursday, Feb. 23.

His passion and drive helped Pocono Raceway succeed when other tracks fell by the wayside. Pocono Raceway is the only remaining family owned and run track on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule. PASS to Sanction All American 400 at Nashville in 2012

CHARLOTTE, NC – Officials today from the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) and Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, TN announced today a major addition to the 2012 racing schedule. The PASS South Super Late Models will stage a 400 lap event on Saturday, October 6th at the historic .596 mile Tennessee oval. The race will be highlighted by a return to its traditional 400 lap distance and will pay $22,000 to the winner. There will be an additional $20 per lap awarded to the race leader which could push the winner's total to $30,000.

Sewart Among 2012 Inductees to Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame

Greg Sewart, one of Nova Scotia's most accomplished stock car racers, will be among a group of seven inductees to the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame (CMHF). Sewart and his fellow honourees will be formally enshrined as members of the class of 2012 at a ceremony to be held in Toronto on April 21. The other six members to be welcomed into the CMHF include Richard Foley of Montreal, the first Canadian to race in the Daytona 500; sports car racer Rudy Bartling of Courtice; rally competitors Robin Edwardes of L'Orignal, Ont., and Paul Manson of Toronto; Calgary organizer Ben Docktor; and, supermodified and stock car racer Norm Ellefson of Edmonton and Spokane, Wash.
