Posted Tuesday, January 17; Source - Series Communications

ANTIGONISH, NS - After a short period of uncertainty with its future the Napa Sportsman Series is back on track for 2012. A meeting this past Sunday saw series organizers Bill Vasil and Lynne Delorey-Vasil introduce a rules package and confirm to more than 50 attendees the series has four dates set for the season - with more pending.

The biggest change for the drivers will be the mandating of crate engines - a change that has been advised for the past two seasons. Other mandatory changes for 2012 are safety-related in the driver compartment, including helmet (Snell 2000 minimum), Hanns device (or equivalent), and seat belts/harness (five year age maximum).

Discussions were also held regarding the possibility of tire impounding, disc brakes, and a weight increase. A post-meeting survey has been distrbuted to series drivers for further input and a decision on these items is expected by January 25.

The four confirmed dates are all at Riverside International Speedway with the series providing support for all of the facilities 2012 feature events. Additional dates are possible at other facilities in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

After perhaps its most successful season to-date, the series future was uncertain when series organizers Vasil and Delorey-Vasil announced their retirement at the 2011 season finale. They have since decided to return and are back at the helm.
