Atlantic Stock Car Championships Kick Off Saturday at CFS

September 29, 2010 - Shediac (N.B.) – Drivers from throughout the Atlantic region will converge on the Centre for Speed (CFS), Atlantic Canada's Super Speedway and Metro Moncton's 'Playground of Power', for this weekend's 12th Annual Atlantic Stock Car Championships, which will feature drivers in four divisions, Sportsman, Mini Stock, Four Fun and for the first time at CFS, Bandoleros. This Saturday's event is weekend two of three of the CFS Atlantic SpeedWeeks, the final events of the 2011 stock car racing season in Atlantic Canada.

Ryan Newman won the Coors Light Pole Award for the 15th Annual Sylvania 300 with a lap of 28.213 seconds, 135.002 mph. This is his 49th pole in 360 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. He ties Bobby Isaac for ninth on the all-time series poles list. This is his third pole and 13th top-10 start in 2011. This is his series-leading sixth pole in 20 races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Newman also won the pole at New Hampshire in July, becoming the second driver to sweep the pole at the track (Ken Schrader, 1997).

Halifax, NS (September 10, 2011) - Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay) and Wayne Smith (Timberlea) ended the Dartmouth Dodge 200 at Scotia Speedworld with plenty of reason to celebrate. Slaunwhite dominated the first half of the Dartmouth Dodge 200 but missed the call to the grid for the second half of the event, relegating him to the rear of the running order for the second segment of the season finale event on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. Fredericton, NB – Johnny Clark, based on last years performance and the season he has had to date would arguably be the man to beat heading into this weekends Auto Value 250. But there are several teams heading to the Geary woods this weekend that have different plans. The biggest name in modern stock car racing in the Northeast, Ben Rowe has some unfinished business at the Auto Value 250 and is retuning to see what he can do about that. After missing his heat race in 2010 due to a motor change, Rowe won his consi and was heading to the front early in the 250 we he was involved in a wreck that ended his day. "We had a great car last year and the team worked their tails off to change that motor on Sunday morning. I cant wait to take another crack at these guys and that Auto Value 250 trophy!". Rowe is fresh of his win in the Atlantic Cat 250 and is a four time PASS North Champion as well as a two time winner of the Oxford 250. Rowe will again pilot a car prepared by O'Neal Racing crew, the same car Sterling Marlin entered in the 2009 event.

JAMES RIVER, NS (August 31, 2011) – Three-time Maritime Pro Stock Tour (PST) champion John Flemming will make his NASCAR debut September 17 at Riverside International Speedway in the Komatsu 300 for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Flemming, from Halifax, will join Antigonish's Donald Chisholm as Maritime favourites in an event featuring some of the best stock car racers from across Canada.
