PENSACOLA, FL – Cole Butcher, from Porter’s Lake, Nova Scotia, finished an impressive sixth in the Snowflake 100 at 5 Flags Speedway on Saturday night. It was Butcher’s first entry in the event, one of the premier short track races in North America and one that attracts some of the best pro late model talent from all over the United States and Canada.

Augie Grill, a top veteran racer in the southeastern Unites States won the race with NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver John Hunter Nemecheck finishing second. Chandler Smith was third, while Kyle Ivey and Ryan Paul rounded out the top five.

Butcher, the 2016 Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour champion, started 13th on the 36-car grid (out of 56 qualifiers), with the field set through time trials. Nemechek was the pole-sitter and led much of the race until Grill got by him on a restart with less than 10 laps to go. Butcher ran just outside the top 10 until the late stages of the race.

The Snowball Derby goes Sunday at 5 Flags Speedway. NASCAR Camping World Truck Series star William Byron will lead the field to the pole. Maine’s Cassius Clark, driving the Pictou (NS)-based entry for King Racing, will not be in the field after the team loaded up following final practice on Saturday, choosing not the run the Last Chance Race after posting times that were off the pace all weekend. The Snowball Derby will be broadcast online (pay-per-view) by Speed51TV with a scheduled start time of 3 p.m. ET (4 p.m. AT).
